From SUNY Empire to the MSW: Alumni Perspectives on Graduate School

Details
What is it really like to move from your SUNY Empire degree into a Master of Social Work (MSW) program? While SUNY Empire State University does not offer an MSW program, our graduates have successfully continued their education in social work at other SUNY universities as well as institutions across the country.
Join us for an alumni panel featuring SUNY Empire graduates who are currently pursuing their MSW. Panelists will share their firsthand experiences transitioning to graduate school, including how prepared they felt for the academic demands of an MSW program, how their SUNY Empire education has supported their graduate studies, and what they have found most valuable throughout the experience.
Hear an inside look at the MSW experience, coursework, expectations, field experiences, student engagement, and opportunities, along with the challenges and rewards of graduate study. Panelists will also offer practical advice for students considering an MSW, including what they wish they had known before making the transition and how they prepared for the next step in their academic journey.
Whether you're exploring social work as a future career, considering an MSW, or preparing for your next academic step, this conversation will provide real-world perspectives, practical advice, and encouragement from SUNY Empire alumni who have successfully continued their educational journey.
