Natural Science Club

The mission of the Natural Sciences Club is to:

• Build a community of students passionate about environmental and biological sciences.

• Support experiential learning through the promotion of field-based opportunities such as the “Nature in Action” residency.

• Encourage student engagement with research, citizen science, conservation, and sustainability.

• Connect students with faculty, professionals, and community partners in the natural sciences.

• Membership is open to all enrolled students at SUNY Empire.

• Members must register via SUNY Empire Connects and maintain active participation through virtual meetings or events.
• There are no dues or fees associated with membership.

• This club is an initiative of the Department of Natural Sciences and will be administered by:
  • Kevin Woo – Department Chair
  • Julie Parato – Program Manager, Biology Program
  • Dan Carpenter – Department Chair Admin
• These individuals will oversee all club operations, content, and communications. No student governance transition is planned.

The club will meet virtually throughout the academic year with the following standing events:

• Field Trip Promotion Kickoff – Beginning of Fall and Spring terms
• Monthly Virtual Meetups – Topical events, faculty Q&A, career talks
• Field Trip Info Sessions – Coordinated with “Nature in Action” course timeline

• All communication will be conducted through SUNY Empire Connects, with periodic updates shared by email.
• SUNY Empire Connects will also serve as the central location for event RSVPs, announcements, and activity archives.

• Revisions to this charter may be made at any time by the administrative leads in alignment with departmental priorities.
