Mission
The M.S. in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) program’s fully online curriculum is paired with required clinical experiences to provide a rigorous, yet flexible program that prepares students to become Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBA) and New York State Licensed Behavior Analysts (LBA). Behavior Analysts focus on the science of human behavior. Empire State University's MS in ABA program focuses on compassionate behavior change. Students may acquire field experience in a variety of settings, including schools, residential facilities, healthcare organizations, or community settings. Students may enroll full- or half-time and can complete the 41-credit program in as little as four terms or less than 1.5 years.

CAARES’ mission is to provide universally designed and community-informed resources to support equitable access for Autistic and neurodivergent individuals through advocacy-based research, educational initiatives, and global supports.

The Center for Autism Advocacy: Research, Education, and Supports (CAARES) conducts research, provides education, and delivers support to better serve Autistic and neurodivergent individuals in the classroom, workplace, and beyond. CAARES commits to be informed by Autistic and neurodivergent individuals, caregivers, and research. In partnership with Anderson Center for Autism, CAARES is working within SUNY Empire to build an Autistic Supportive College, deliver community and professional outreach, and provide career support for Autistic and neurodivergent college students. It seeks to provide workforce development for professionals and business in increasing inclusive practices, conduct innovative research with and in support of Autistic and neurodivergent individuals, and continuing to work in partnership with Autistic and neurodivergent individuals and organizations across the globe.

PLAY fulfills a niche at Empire State University as an organization focused on the field of teacher education. The organization supports the university’s mission, building on students’ experiences, promoting growth, and contributing to our students’ upward mobility and economic development in New York State and beyond. The organization’s purposes are to:

· coordinate opportunities that provide university students with extra-curricular opportunities related to the field of education. Opportunities may include but are not limited to colloquia, speakers, or attendance at conferences that students would not ordinarily have access to in the classroom.

· maintain an informational website, currently offered through the Office of Student Engagement, to promote learning and events.

· provide opportunities for students to develop professional relationships with university peers, faculty, staff, or to broaden their professional communities related to education.

· encourage student interest and participation in the selection of activities.

· seek and oversee funding to minimize cost or to offer opportunities at no cost to university students, particularly to offer these opportunities to students with limited financial resources.

· the organization’s advisory board will consist of faculty members from the university’s Department of Educational Studies and the School for Graduate Studies educational programs. Each entity will select a faculty member annually to serve as a PLAY coordinator.
