Peer education is a student-led approach supported by professional advisors, leveraging peer connections to enhance wellness, reduce risks, and shape campus culture. A peer educator is a student leader who uses their equal standing, accessibility, and influence to support peers, promote well-being, and inspire positive change.

What Peer Education IS NOT:
Peer education is not mental health counseling. While peer educators are trained to provide guidance and connect students with available resources, they are not licensed mental health professionals.
If you wish to speak to a licensed therapist, we recommend utilizing Timely Care, SUNY Empire's free, virtual counseling platform, available 24/7/365.

Earn a digital badge for every workshop you attend and collect all eight badges to earn the title SUNY Empire Wellness Ambassador. Can’t make a session? No worries! All workshops will be offered again in the spring term.
As a SUNY Empire Wellness Ambassador, you'll be eligible to apply for a limited number of NASPA Certified Peer Educator positions, where you'll be given the opportunity to further develop your leadership skills, promote student wellbeing, and make a meaningful impact on the SUNY Empire community.
