About

  • What Peer Education IS:

Peer education is a student-led approach supported by professional advisors, leveraging peer connections to enhance wellness, reduce risks, and shape campus culture. A peer educator is a student leader who uses their equal standing, accessibility, and influence to support peers, promote well-being, and inspire positive change.

  • What Peer Education IS NOT:

Peer education is not mental health counseling. While peer educators are trained to provide guidance and connect students with available resources, they are not licensed mental health professionals.

If you wish to speak to a licensed therapist, we recommend utilizing Timely Care, SUNY Empire's free, virtual counseling platform, available 24/7/365.

Health and Wellness has a staff of NASPA certified peer educators each representing one of the Eight Pillars of Wellness.

Peer educators host events, help plan the annual Spring Into Wellness Conference, and are available to meet 1 on 1 with students for guidance and health coaching.
